COVID-19 PANDEMIC
CLINIC RESPONSE

The clinic has remained open during the pandemic for in-clinic consultations for new and existing patients.

The GPs also provide the option of phone or video telemedicine consultations for existing patients in order to assist patients who would prefer to self-isolate.

New patients are required to attend the clinic for their initial appointment and to submit a completed registration form prior to the appointment. Registration forms can be downloaded and printed by clicking the link at the bottom of this page and then brought to your appointment. Alternatively, you can register online if you book your first appointment through our online booking system. This can be accessed from our website by pressing on the online bookings tab or via the HotDoc smartphone app and choosing Armstrong Street Medical Centre as the location. After their initial appointment, new patients are then eligible for telehealth appointments if they choose this option.

When attending the clinic, changes have been made to significantly reduce the chance of infection transmission. These measures include limiting the number of patient in the clinic, no longer having patients wait for their appointment in the clinic, before allowing the patient to enter the clinic the doctor commences the consultation by phone while the patients is outside or in their car before entering the clinic so as to screen for COVID-19 symptoms and assess based on symptoms the best section of the clinic for the patient to be assessed, use of hand sanitiser on arrival, physical distancing, reception sneeze screens and mandatory wearing of masks for patients over 11 years old.

Patients having phone or video telehealth consultations can have their pathology forms and prescriptions sent to them electronically, and referrals faxed directly to their specialist or radiology provider. Dr Alison Richards, Dr Jo-Anne Zappia, Dr Jonathan David and Dr Noel Leon are available to perform phone or video telemedicine and in-clinic consultations.

Online Bookings

Online appointments with a general practitioner can be made by clicking on the “Online Bookings” icon. This booking service is available 24 hours a day. Online bookings can also be made from the HotDoc smart phone app, which is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play. After downloading the app please register and nominate Armstrong Street Medical Centre as your general practice and allow notification so that you can receive SMS appointment reminders and notifications. For phone bookings, please call the clinic on 9699 4333 to make an appointment.

Smart Phone Bookings

To download the HotDoc smart phone app, click on the App Store or Google Play button. This will take you to the iTunes store for Apple iPhones or Google Play for Android devices. The app will allow you to make smart phone online appointments. After downloading the app please register and nominate Armstrong Street Medical Centre as your general practice and allow notification so that you can receive SMS appointment reminders and notifications.

Our Location

Armstrong Street Medical Centre is on the corner of Armstrong Street and Neville Street in Middle Park, adjacent to the vibrant cafe and retail precinct of Middle Park Village, located between the beach and Albert Parklands and Lake. The clinic is 5 km from the Melbourne CBD. There is ample street parking nearby. Tram routes 112 and 96, and bus route 606 have stops nearby.

The Clinic

Armstrong Street Medical Centre has been purpose built and equipped to an exceptional standard, in order to establish a high quality, modern Family Practice. There is a wheelchair ramp entrance from Neville Street for patients with impaired mobility and an intercom those who may require assistance. The clinic has disabled toilet facilities.

Our Services

The doctors provide a wide range of medical services including comprehensive family health, women’s health, children’s health, older people’s health, men’s health, veteran’s health, travel medicine, mental health care, chronic disease management, skin cancer checks, sexual and reproductive health, medical assessments, immunisations, sporting and work related injury care and preventative health care.

The dietitian provides a wide range of health and nutrition services including diabetes education, nutrition in pregnancy, sports nutrition, achieving healthy weight reduction and managing food intolerances.

The practice nurses participate in chronic disease management, wound care, immunisation, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring, infection control, recalls and reminders and health promotion in conjunction with our doctors.
